Friday is final day for final voting
By mid-morning Monday, as many as 1,300 early ballots have been cast in the Republican Primary and just more than 100 votes in the Democratic Primary. Texas voters may vote in either the Republican or Democratic primaries, but not both.
The numbers from the Tennessee Secretary of State’s office show one more early voter than the total posted Wednesday, Feb. 24, by the Shelby County Election Commission.
Mrs. Nelson said national races get people’s attention and inform the voting public there is an election, but competitive local races are strong motivators at the city and county level.
And there are discrepancies in the total number of registered voters, making it hard to determine what percentage of voters turned out in Shelby County.
“Traditionally, the Election Day turnout for this type of election is heavy, so I would encourage primary voters, especially those voting in the Republican primary (whose ballot is 10 pages in length), to study the sample ballot before they arrive at their Election Day polling place to make the voting process as speedy as possible”, he said. There has been a barrage of mass mailers, phone banking and television and radio advertisements during the last few days of early voting.
The largest number of Democratic early voters was in precinct 7506 where votes are cast at Westwood Community Center on election day.
Primary election day in OH is March 15.
More than 266,000 of Oklahoma’s 1.9 million registered voters are independents, who have previously been prohibited from voting in primaries.
Voters were lined up last night at the Putnam Election Commission Office to cast their ballots early as the early voting period ended on Tuesday.
