Friday NBA Betting Report: Warriors seek revenge on Bucks
Remember when Michael Carter-Williams dunked in the definitive exclamation points on the Bucks’ streak-snapping home win over the Warriors on Saturday night?
It wasn’t necessarily pretty, but the Warriors will take it. On a night when it appeared the Bucks might have their number for the second time in less than a week, Golden State gutted out a victory thanks to a strong fourth quarter push.
OAKLAND, Calif. – Golden State forward Draymond Green and Milwaukee guard O.J.
The Milwaukee Bucks could use a victory after losing six of their last nine games.
Stephen Curry scored 26 points and Green fueled a key fourth-quarter run that helped the Warriors avenge their only loss by beating the Bucks 121-112 Friday.
“I spoke to him (Green) on it”, Carter-Williams said.
The Warriors took their first lead since the first quarter, 103-102, on a dunk by center Festus Ezeli with 5:01 to go. “We’re trying to compete for a championship, and there’s a way to win”. Warriors fans wore shirts with “10-18” across the front in response to the “24-1” shirts that Bucks fans donned last week in hopes their team would hand Golden State its first loss.
Things would get worse for Golden State before they got better, as Khris Middleton’s three-pointer gave the Bucks their largest lead of the entire game at 75-60 just 51 seconds into the second half. Since then, they have got back to their usual best, on a roll and won two straight games, according to ESPN.
“I think we’re able to match them going small”, Carter-Williams said. “At the end of the day, [Green] felt that Michael Carter-Williams did something that wasn’t much class. He went even further with class speaking on our team situation”. Golden State still has one streak intact and picked up its 29th consecutive home win with the 128-103 thrashing of Phoenix.
Luke Walton is serving as interim coach in Kerr’s absence and the defending National Basketball Association champions are off to a record start.
Green scored eight points in a span of 1:06 to cut Milwaukee’s lead to 100-97.
“You have to do everything right against these guys”, said Hornacek. “But we were playing at the height of our game in that second and third quarter”. “I’m a grown man. That’s all I’ve got for you”. “That’s what we needed at that point”.
NOTES: Bucks C Greg Monroe was given the thumbs-up to return from a two-game absence after testing his sore left knee about an hour before the game…. The Milwaukee Bucks are shooting 35.5 percent from beyond the arc and 77.8 percent from the free throw line. “He was yelling at Steve, and Steve kind of leans over to us and says, ‘We’re good now”.
Klay Thompson added 27 points and Green had 21 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Then it was Curry and Thompson’s turn to punish the bucks down the stretch, though Milwaukee did find a counter by repeatedly running plays through Giannis on the block. He scored 27 points in the third quarter, in what feels like the norm now, and not something that is more or less record breaking for everyone else. “They (the Bucks) came out and wanted a piece of the champs, and we weren’t fighting back”. He’s had a heck of a career thus far and a big part of why they win ballgames. More importantly, the Bucks once again didn’t look intimidated by a Warrior team that had all the motivation in the world to prove last Saturday’s loss in Milwaukee was a fluke.
