Friday’s gift: Temperatures in the mid-80s
Monday morning will start out with chilly temperatures with most areas in the mid-40s with afternoon highs near 68 degrees. “A few places may get a killing freeze”, Sosnowski said. Lows may drop Saturday and Sunday with temperatures forecast in the 20s.
The warning indicates that sub-freezing temperatures are highly likely.
The full effect of the cooldown will be felt starting Saturday and last into Monday, according to the weather service.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with an overnight low temperature of 49 degrees. Calm wind becoming west around 5 miles per hour. Little or no snow accumulation expected. In Sussex County, highs on Sunday will only be about 46. Winds will be light in the valley today.
The entire Chicago area will be under a freeze warning from 11 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday.
There is another chance of showers Sunday, otherwise it will be cloudy with a high near 47.
The ongoing drought, low relative humidity and hot temperatures have caused the fire danger to ramp up significantly this week.
