Friends deleted scene goes viral after controversial 9/11 joke was axed
“You don’t have to worry about me, ma’am, I take my bombs very seriously”, said Chandler, after which the two are taken away by security for questioning.
It’s not obvious why exactly, but a Friends deleted scene is doing the rounds on social media, and it’s definitely worth a watch.
The Friends episode “The One Where Rachel Tells Ross” aired two weeks after September 11, 2001.
The scrapped clip features Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing making a bomb joke at airport security with Monica, played by Courteney Cox.
A deleted scene from the legendary sitcom has surfaced 14 years after it was meant to air, and to quote Chandler Bing – could we be more excited? In light of this, we decided to replace the original story.
In the never aired scene Chandler points towards a sign that reads: “Federal law prohibits any joking regarding hijacking or bombing”, and does just that.
It originally made its way onto YouTube back in 2007, but has resurfaced online, thanks to a Facebook video clip which has gone viral.
In an intro to the clip producers explain: ‘As part of the history of the show, we hope that the scenes can now be viewed in the spirit which they were originally intended’.
