Full House revival: Olsen twins could still join, says Netflix
It’s not over yet!
However, more than almost any other character, fans have been anxious to hear if Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen – who as a pair played the precocious and adorable Michelle Tanner – may return.
Netflix has come a long way since the 2013 launch of House of Cards, with the over-the-top service set to offer 475 hours of original programming this year, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said.
Sarandos, appearing before journalists at the Television Critics Association press tour, explained why Netflix is so interested in revisting a series that left the air in 1995. Actually, he said the duo “are teetering on whether or not they’ll be around” for the 13-episode series, which will hit the site in 2016.
Executive producer Robert L. Boyett had previously confirmed that the twins would not be appearing when he released a statement in May.
Prior to TCA, the duo’s involvement in the revival series was shut down with their rep telling Variety they are focused on their current careers, which includes overseeing their fashion labels. “The Olsen twins are teetering on whether or not they’ll be around”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Netflix head assures that the cast “have fallen right back into their roles” and that Fuller House is, “very much in the same spirit [of the original], but it’s a modern take on Full House”.
