‘Fuller House’ now streaming on Netflix
The day has finally arrived!
NetflixFrom left, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, Bob Saget, Lori Loughlin, John Stamos, and Dave Coulier on Netflix’s “Fuller House”.
– Jon Anter (@jonathonanter) February 26, 2016I am definitely NOT crying 20 minutes into the first episode…
I wouldn’t advise reading if you haven’t watched the first episode yet because there are some spoilers! A second season has not been confirmed yet but if that does happen, Franklin is hopeful that he can get one Mary-Kate or Ashley to make an appearance.
Another thing we learn in the interview is what Stephanie is up to now. I imagine the audience must have had a collective heart attack from how hard they laughed over that one.
A big thing I was looking forward to was the comedy in the show.
“The fans are excited about the show”. The old theme is (briefly) played and paid homage to, there are direct recreations of old scenes, there’s even a studio audience that classically applauds at each old character’s re-entry.
What do you think of Stamos’ extra little jab at the Olsens?
There has been one occasion where Netflix wavered from this usual 12:01 release time, and that was when they released a season of Orange is the New Black several hours early for “good behavior”. I love that joke.
“I felt really bad for them. There is a bit more demanded of you as an adult”.
There are some cheesy elements to the series, but most family-oriented shows have a cheesy quotient they need to fill, but it’s not a turnoff with Fuller House. “So my mom said, ‘Well, sure, we’ll try it and see how it goes.’ I don’t think we ever imagined it would take off the way it did”.
The scene that I thought was absolutely brilliant was when the cast broke the fourth wall while talking about Michelle and how she’s running her own fashion empire in NY. Michelle was played by twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. “They seemed very into it. They just were afraid of acting”.
“‘It is still pulling millions of viewers and beating most of the shows on the networks we were pitching to and we couldn’t get [a deal] done”, he said. Joey’s Bullwinkle pajamas reminded us of all the episodes in Full House where Bullwinkle was so important. A Bullwinkle impression, Mr. Woodchuck and “cut it out”. Ugh it felt like we were right at their wedding again.
As previously reported, “Fuller House” follows widowed D.J. Tanner as she raises her three boys.
Then Netflix stepped up and made a series commitment to the show.
And television critic Hank Steuver of The Washington Post called the show, “a retread”, an “exhumation” and “just awful”. In his pitches he would point out that Full House were reruns wildly successful.
