FURIOUS 7 Director May Produce MORTAL KOMBAT Reboot
According to the report, the highly sought after “Furious 7“, “The Conjuring” and “Insidious: Chapter 2” director has been tapped as the producer of the film, which is now in the works at New Line Cinema and Broken Road Productions.

So far nothing has been publicly announced, but the Tracking Board is reporting that James Wan is working with New Line to produce a new Mortal Kombat film. Tracking-Board revealed that Wan appears to be the ideal guy to make the film franchise exciting again.
The Mortal Kombat video game franchise has sold over 35 million units since it launched, in spite of harsh ratings for graphic violence on every game in the series. The overly-graphic and violent fighting game has grown and grown over the past two decades, and keeps on going to match up with Street Fighter. Let’s all pretend Mortal Kombat: Annihilation never happened.
A film version was released in 1995, but was met with much criticism even though it has become a bit of a cult classic for some. The movie was previously set to move forward a few years back with Kevin Tancharoen – the man responsible for web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy – behind the camera.
It can be recalled that game developer NetherRealm Studios has added Tremor in the last “Mortal Kombat X” DLC pack. Not to mention that the films he directed has achieved financial success. The only path he can take to save the world from total anarchy is to win the martial arts tournament known as “Mortal Kombat“. It is then that he starts to realize his true potential in life and must battle evil to survive.
The script was penned by Mortal Kombat: Rebirth scribe Oren Uziel and THE EXPENDABLES/GODZILLA writer Dave Callaham.
