Fury no-show at Klitschko meeting ‘due to broken-down car’

As regards the press conference today, Tyson Fury was absent due to traffic and vehicle trouble, while Klitschko seemed in confident form – very driven ahead of the rematch.

Fury overcame Klitschko in Dusseldorf last November to take his WBA and WBO belts, and their July rematch was cancelled after the Brit sprained his ankle.

The 28-year-old British fighter agreed to face Klitschko again, which meant he was stripped of the IBF title for failing to face its mandatory challenger.

‘Tyson is normally early for press conferences and he’s the most entertaining person at press conferences worldwide. “There has been chaos around this fight, especially with UKAD slipping statements out to the public, people guilty before they are even tried – chaos – but we are happy, we have had hard knocks in life but we can happily say this will happily go ahead because that is what the judge has ruled and I am so happy we can have the fight”. “We’re not making it up”.

Fury’s uncle and trainer Peter Fury did make it to the news conference and warned Klitschko he will have to go through a radical change if he is to win back his belts. I prefer it if my fists will say more on fight night. “We fought previously and know each other well”.

“I won’t be surprised if something else happens, I’m prepared for anything to achieve my goal and I’m obsessed by that”, said Klitschko.

“But I hope we are eventually going to meet in the ring”.

“Trust me, whether invisible Fury is here or not, I will wait regardless of when the fight is going to happen”.

At a news conference to announce the first fight between the two rivals, Fury turned up as Batman, prompting Klitschko to speculate that perhaps he had dressed as the Invisible Man on Monday.

It also emerged Fury had been handed a provisional suspension for an alleged drugs violation by UK Anti-Doping, though this has since been lifted and he will face a hearing in November. It’s okay, I can wait.

“Even if it doesn’t happen in October, I will wait”.
