Fury offered $120million Klitschko yacht rematch
The WBA and WBO champion said he needs to know “when and where” his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko will take place before he decides on whether he will get back in the ring.
Heavyweight boxing champ Tyson Fury was controversially nominated for the BBC’s Sports “Personality” award a year ago – despite his assersions that homosexuality and paedophilia will bring about the apocalypse.
Fury cast doubts over the re-match earlier this week when he claimed he might be ready to walk away from the sport entirely, saying that he did not want his career to become about the money. “I could just sail into the sunset unbeaten with all the belts and live a normal life”.
“I’ve accomplished a dream”, he said. The mouth-watering clash will have to wait until Wilder deals with his mandatory, Alexander Povetkin (the fight possible for April according to a piece on Ring.tv.com) and until Fury faces Wladimir Klitschko for a second, contracted fight (still nothing concrete on when this fight will happen, Fury even hinting he may retire instead).
Speaking to ESPN, Fury claimed the sheikh offered a $US120 million ($A166m) purse for the fight that would be generated by charging $1 million a piece to board the yacht before fight time. I’ve done what I wanted to do in my life – become the heavyweight champion of the world. When my legacy’s over and done, I want to be labelled as someone who went behind enemy lines, fought everybody and had great exciting fight every time I came back.
JUST imagine the scene: two of the world’s biggest boxing heavyweights going toe-to-toe on a private yacht as a small group of wealthy Arab oil tycoons watched on.
Despite dates in May and June being bandied about, Fury stated that he has been given no assurances regarding the Klitschko return as he also addressed some of the current issues in the sport. He added that it would be “hard for him to be able to say he ever was the world champion if he doesn’t go back and prove it”.
‘I believe I’ll be frozen in 2015 for the next 40 years, or however long I live for.
“Nothing’s going to outdo that achievement for me”.
