Fury’s fight with Klitschko postponed
World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko reveals that the injury which has resulted in the postponement of his fight with Tyson Fury is “minor”.
When Klitschko damned Fury with faint praise, called him a “clown” and said he should get a job with Cirque du Soleil, the Mancunian threw off his jacket and offered to fight him on the spot.
Klitschko’s announcement comes just two days after Fury dressed as Batman and wrestled a man dressed as The Joker during a press conference to promote the fight in London.
“Of course I’m mad, sorry”, Klitschko told the German newspaper Bild. “He fights in both stances comfortably, his size and reach make it hard, so I’m expecting a very competitive fight”. “If that happens, once I get up I’ll give you the biggest hug in the world and there’ll be no excuses from me”.
There had been plenty of intrigue ahead of the fight, with Fury making no secret of his desire to topple Klitschko.
“That’s how you will be looking when you face me on October 24″. It’s better than opponents always saying: ‘Thank you Wladimir for giving me this chance to fight for your title.'”Who knows?” “I’m as confident of winning as waking up in the morning and putting my shoes on”, said Fury.
Fury’s trainer and uncle Peter Fury is however remaining positive with a new date, likely in mid to late November, set to be announced next week.
In addition, Fury’s scheduled meeting with domestic rival Dereck Chisora also had to be postponed in 2014 when the Londoner sustained a fractured hand. “A little boy. On October 24, he will be welcomed to big-time boxing for the first time”.
Fury then proceeded to launch a verbal attack on Klitschko before changing into his normal attire. “Due to this injury we strictly recommend ceasing athletic activity in the next weeks”.
