Future’s Free Concerts In West Hollywood Cancelled Three Times
Future’s planned free concert at The Roxy Theatre drew hundreds of fans that forced the closure of Sunset Boulevard between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard in West Hollywood Thursday afternoon.
Just hours before showtime, The Roxy announced the cancelation.
At 10:40 p.m., Future tweeted that he would not be dissuaded. So hot, in fact, that he had several shows in West Hollywood cancelled on the same night due to the massive and rowdy crowds. The deputies shutdown Sunset Blvd between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard, around 2 p.m. local time, according to the report. Future didn’t post the update on Twitter but rather his Instagram, letting fans know that the show would be moved the the House of Blues, nearby on Sunset Boulevard. The club soon reached max capacity, with fans spilling out into the streets.
Reports and tweets from people at the scene said there was a brief bout of panic after someone set off a fire extinguisher, leading some in the crowd to believe tear gas or smoke bombs were being set off. More than a dozen police vehicles and police in riot gear again blocked off stretches of Sunset Boulevard, this time from Kings Road to La Cienega Boulevard, as the crowd dispersed.
Fox11 reported House of Blues management decided to cancel the concert after fans rushed the entrance.
By 2 a.m. Friday morning, the rapper made good on his word and took the stage in Hollywood at the Supper Club.
