Gag order won’t keep womb cutting victim off ‘Dr. Phil’ show
Prosecutors allege she attacked Wilkins and removed an unborn baby from her womb on March 18.
Lane is facing charges of attempted murder, assault and unlawful termination of pregnancy.
The woman whose baby was cut out of her womb during a brutal attack in March spoke publicly for the first time about that day. The suspect is now being held on $2 million bail, and while she is expected to stand trial early next year, she has pleaded “not guilty” to all eight felony counts. I pull out my phone and I said, “well I’ll call the police” and that’s when the real struggle begins and she just throws me to the bed and tries to suffocate me with the pillow, with her hands and it had this nightmarish quality.
She and her partner, Dan, got to spend a few brief moments with their lifeless daughter, Aurora.
“I just know that my only job is to tell the truth, whether it is here, at trial or in conversations with friends”, Wilkins said when asked about Lane’s claim.
“I started walking toward the door, and she grabbed me very roughly, pushing me deeper into the house towards the bathroom”.
“What I would share with people is to listen to that inner voice of wisdom”, Wilkins said. She was allowed to hold the dead child.
“I think I had lost so much blood, I was so dazed, I didn’t realize”, she said.
Longmont public safety Chief Mike Butler said Lane may be suffering a mental illness as she lost a 19-month-old son in 2002.
“I had this sensation that I had everything I needed, but for fear of being impolite, I made a decision to stay”, she said.
Answering a Craigslist ad for free maternity clothes, Wilkins went to see Dynel Lane, who invited her inside.
Wilkins said she is still physically able to have children, but isn’t considering that possibility right now. She hasn’t experienced the anger stage that often comes in the grieving process, but she said she’ll welcome it if it arrives. “I’d love to open an organic farm that focuses on holistic healing as a way to give back to the community”.
“In turn she stabbed me and said, ‘If you love me you’ll let me do this, ‘” Wilkins told Dr. Phil. “I’m still grieving over the loss of one child”.
