Gallery: every single Rolls-Royce Phantom
Rolls-Royce has announced that it will cease production of the seventh generation Phantom which came into being in 2003, later this year.
To celebrate the end of the line for the two-door Phantom, the company will round out the coupe and convertible’s manufacturing run with 50 Zenith models. These models will not be replaced.
Rolls-Royce has announced a Zenith special edition will serve as epilogue for the outgoing Phantom. Of course Rolls-Royce is looking for the right way to bring to life its successor – in an attempt to sweeten the actual blow: Rolls-Royce has made a decision to give the axe to the Phantom Coupe and Drophead Coupe, models that will not be renewed with a new generation as well. But that wouldn’t be very Rolls-Royce at all.
“I am proud to announce that a new Phantom is on the way”, explains RR boss Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, “a contemporary and handsome Phantom enhanced with cutting-edge technologies and design innovations”.
Earlier they started testing their all-new aluminium space frame architecture that will underpin all future Rolls-Royce models. There is less information than provided for the Zenith cars, with the only clue so far being that the design department “will create the most highly Bespoke examples of each Phantom model”. “Zenith will be the sum of all the best features of Phantom Coupe and Drophead Coupe, with a few surprises added”. The vehicle is expected to be even bigger than the current Phantom and should offer a plug-in hybrid option in addition to a standard V-12 mill. “We expect huge demand for these 50 fine motor cars as we shall not look upon their like again”. These features will include details like engraved armrests, custom instrument dials and a special treatment for the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine. Among these surprises we noticed an unusual item: a “money can not buy portable memento of his or her purchase”.
