Game of Thrones director confirms: The OTHER character is dead
David Nutter, the director of the season five Game of Thrones finale, has confirmed that a key character from the show really “is dead” – but, rather refreshingly, he wasn’t talking about Kit Harington’s Jon Snow (who was left for dead at the end of the episode). Fans saw Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) stand over Stannis and raise her sword as if to kill Stannis, and that is certainly what Stannis expected, but the scene cut away leaving no visual on whether Stannis was actually dead or not. Or, you know, see you next season if Daniel Nutter totally lied to the president.
The director also added that he felt showing the death itself would have been “gratuitous” – a concept some might find surprising, given Game of Thrones’s reputation for not holding back on violence.
It may not have provided fans the Jon Snow closure they so desperately sought, but Friday’s “Game of Thrones” panel at Comic-Con did give Westeros loyalists a look at the actors’ hilarious auditions. Although, arguably, that is a moot argument on a show that has bought us the term “sexposition”. Weiss, based on George R. R. Martin’s ongoing series of fantasy novels known as “A Song of Ice and Fire”.
But when it came time for the fans to ask questions, that was when the topic of Jon Snow – and his fate – was addressed. Let us know your thoughts by commenting below!
