Game Review: 3 Head-Scratching, Costly Eagles’ Plays

QB Mark Sanchez replaced Sam Bradford in the third quarter after he left with a concussion and a shoulder injury.

By the time halftime rolled around in Miami’s game at Philadelphia on Sunday, the Dolphins’ defense was without three starters – cornerback Brent Grimes (food poisoning), linebacker Jelani Jenkins (ankle) and cornerback Brice McCain (knee). Kelly is still very confident in Bradford’s ability and Sanchez simply isn’t that good of a quarterback.

After Bradford went down, Sanchez came in and played decently, throwing for 156 yards.

Bradford was an injury risk when the Eagles acquired him from St. Louis in a bulky deal involving Nick Foles.

Sanchez entered the game with the Eagles up 16-13, but then Philly allowed a touchdown, and the backup QB got the ball for his first full drive.

“I think the most important thing is to just take it one week at a time and to learn from the mistakes each week and continue to build”, Sanchez said. Kicker Caleb Sturgis missed a 32-yard field goal in the first half that turned out to be a huge difference in the game. He said it’s an adjustment every year whether or not you change teams. “But when you do get a chance to play, you have to make the most of it. And that’s what I was trying to do”.

Now he’ll have the task of keeping this 4-5 Eagles team alive. “And doing what we do during practice and stuff, Mark’s getting a ton of reps, just as many as Sam, maybe just a tad bit less”.
