‘Gandhi’s comments on National Herald case insult to democracy’
Prospects of a forward movement on GST appeared in sight on Friday with the government giving some proposals to the Congress and expecting a response by Monday when Parliament meets again with just few working days left for the winter session to conclude.
“We could implement GST from April 1, 2016 from administrative point of view”, he said while talking to a global audience on YouTube on India’s reforms agenda. He also cited the example of the “Give it Up” campaign, under which more than 52 lakh people had so far given up their LPG subsidies and helped the government to provide LPG connections to 46 lakh people who were dependent on “chulhas”.
Asked if he would be applying for bail, he replied, “Let’s see what happens on December 19”. “We are protesting against your policies of repression”.
Without naming Sonia or Rahul Gandhi, Jaitley said the Congress leaders created a “Chakravyuh” for themselves through a series of financial transactions where tax-exempt income of a political party was transfered to a real estate company.
Kharge said BJP member Virendra Singh has not only refused to apologise but also insisted that he stood by what he had said in his attack on Congress leaders. “It is so hard to shout for an hour without securing adjournment of the House”.

Asserting that Congress has full faith in judiciary, he said it was the government’s actions of opening cases against opposition leaders that forced them to raise voice in the temple of democracy when democracy itself was being “murdered and slaughtered”. “Nobody has lost any money or made any money in this”, said the senior lawyer.
