Garbutt joins Fulham on loan
July 25, 2015 -Fulham have signed Everton defender Luke Garbutt on a season-long loan deal.
The 21-year-old recently signed a new five-year contract with Everton following months of speculation regarding his future and while he was briefly linked with Premier League newcomers, Bournemouth, it is the Cottagers who will offer him the prospect of regular first-team football.
Kit Symons is taking charge of his first full season at the West London club, with hopes of a big improvement on last season’s 17th place Championship finish.
“They’ve shown their faith and trust in me”.
“The main objective is to get promoted this season”.
Manager Roberto Martinez told reporters during the club’s involvement at the Asia Cup in Singapore: “The idea will be to send him on loan to get important experience”.
“He has all the talent in the world with his cultured left foot and he will shine and be a massive asset in the Fulham team and in their dressing room”.
With this in mind, should Luke Garbutt play well for Fulham this season, not only will it benefit his overall football development but it will hopefully, for Leeds United’s sake, raise his market value. From there he flourishes and begins to make more regular appearances as an Everton player, again raising his value.
