Garde bans French from Villa dressing-room
Their last match was a 1-3 thrashing in the hands of Tottenham Hotspur at the White Hart Lane on Monday with Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew scoring a goal for Rémi Garde’s men, as per BBC Sport.
New Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has banned French in the dressing-room despite having a Gallic-flavoured squad.
Substitute Jordan Ayew pulled one back in the 79th minute for Villa, only for Harry Kane to make sure of the points for Tottenham late on.
The 49-year-old Garde, who won the Premier League with Arsenal in 1998, left the managerial job at Lyon in 2014 after three years for personal reasons.
Frenchman Remi Garde has the task of trying to preserve Aston Villa’s top-flight status after being named manager of the Premier League’s bottom club on Monday.
“It is an unbelievable honour to be the manager of such an illustrious football club”, Garde told the website.
“It’s not just in football but in society you are part of a minority so I don’t think it will ever be a non-issue”. I can see why the club have appointed him and hopefully he’ll be good for Villa.
Garde and Villa need an influx of quality in January, players who know the league and who are prepared to dig them out of a widening hole.
“I’m glad it wasn’t more serious”, MacDonald said.
Garde’s first full match in charge will be against Manchester City on Sunday November 8 at Villa Park.
Tottenham continued their climb and Mauricio Pochettio believes his young side are learning their lessons.
New managers are reknowned for shaking things up when they come into a club, in an attempt to put a stamp on their team.
“The team is a whole team, we need to be all together – for example they have to learn English quickly, because I don’t want anybody speaking French in the dressing room, for example, because it’s very important that we understand each other”.
Villa have been in this situation for far too many years when you consider the size of the club, however Villa’s owner Randy Lerner has seemed disinterested since Martin O’Neil’s reign when his plan to qualify for the Champions League was unsuccessful.
The goal gave Villa a huge lift and on 83 minutes substitute Rudy Gestede got to a cross into the area ahead of Lloris but sent his header just wide, before Ayew curled one just over the bar two minutes later.
