Gareth Bale: Semi-final showdown not about individuals
Wales have advanced to the semifinals of a major football tournament for the first time with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Belgium, which paid dearly for its careless play on defence in an Euro 2016 quarter-final here.
“It’s complete euphoria really”.
“We have already seen Leicester’s incredible Premier League triumph this season and now Wales are just two wins away from another huge sporting shock, which would trigger another multi-million pound payout to punters”, said Coral’s David Stevens.
Wales captain Ashley Williams had hauled his team back into the game in the 30th minute when he stooped to head in a corner, after midfielder Radja Nainggolan had given Belgium the lead with a rising right-foot shot from 25 meters. “We will enjoy the night and then begin preparations for our next game tomorrow”.
“We felt we knew Belgium well from previous games and we executed the plan amazingly”.
“He’s a world-class player but we have world-class players throughout our squad”, Robson-Kanu said of Ramsey’s influence.
“Today we have had a disappointment, but I think he will have a think, he will decide later if he wants to continue with us and if not, then we will wish him luck for the future”.
In opening minutes of second half, it was Hal Robson-Kanu who struck with a marvellous turn and finish writing his name into Welsh football history with his stunning individual effort.
“It’s fantastic, it’s been all about the team all the way through this and tonight is just a special, special night for everyone involved”.
‘This was an opportunity we may not get again, ‘ Courtois told reporters.
Giggs capped 64 times by Wales, is the most decorated player in United’s illustrious history and he amassed a record 963 appearances and 35 major trophies before going on to serve as an assistant to former managers David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.
“I wanted to stand up and be counted, so I am delighted I was able to help my team and grab a couple of assists that meant we won quite comfortably in the end”.
“It was brilliant, it was a great feeling”, said Vokes when asked about his goal.
“We saw some of the footage from the park down in Cardiff and there was a wave of beer coming over that they were throwing in the air”. “I think the way the boys reacted shows the spirit of the lads and to come back and win 3-1 is an unbelievable feat”.
