Garrett: “No Issues” For Romo After First Game in Two Months

It is a good start for Romo and the Cowboys who are still sitting on the last spot in the National Football Conference (NFC) East with a 3-7 record. Dallas hosts undefeated Carolina (10-0) at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

That narrative was decidedly different by the end of a 12-4 Cowboys’ season that saw Romo throw just six more picks all year, while completing almost 70% of his passes to help Dallas win the NFC East. He went from Romo the goat to Romo the hero over the course of the next 16 weeks and into the playoffs.

“I got more comfortable as the game went on”, Romo said. “It just gives you an extra boost”. He stepped in front of a pass by Ryan Tannehill intended for Greg Jennings. “That’s why it’s the NFL”.

Each quarterback made a poor first-half decision, and both plays resulted in interceptions. A frustrated Romo yelled at intended receiver Bryant as they headed for the bench. He turned back, sprouted a smile and said, “And what I mean is…”

His ingenuity was on display as soon as he stepped foot on the field, evading pressure and completing a pass left-handed from his own end zone. This time, however, he doesn’t have two months of wear and tear since he’s been sitting.

Quarterbacks have won the award seven of the past eight years. “I think if he knows what you’re in, you’re dead”.

As for his own performance, Romo was perhaps a bit rusty, throwing two interceptions. The odds of making the playoffs are stacked against them, but with Romo at quarterback this team believes in itself.

With that said, it’s not like his offensive line (aside from Jason Fox and Dallas Thomas) was bad, and his running backs, when used, were productive. “He has been for a long time”.

Sunday’s loss to a limping Cowboys team shows why this franchise needs to be completely overhauled from top to bottom.

“We’ll just take it in stride”, Rivera said.

“It’s tough to get 3rd-and-six, much less 4th-and-6”, Pouncey said. The Dolphins, last in the AFC in third-down conversions at 28 percent, went 1 for 10 against Dallas. A coaching staff cleanup will be necessary, no matter how many Oklahoma drills Dan Campbell makes the Dolphins do.

After all, Romo was the one who pat Tom Brady on the shoulder this year, after a Cowboys loss to the Patriots, and said: “See you at the Super Bowl”. We’ve got rain. (Miami’s) got a good defensive line, maybe as good as we’re going to go up against, and they come out with some great coverage stuff we hadn’t seen’. They committed nine penalties, misplayed a kickoff and dropped a pair of early third-down passes.

He let his receivers do the dancing for him.

But Bryant beat a linebacker and a safety for the touchdown that put the Cowboys ahead to stay, 21-14, on the first play of the fourth quarter.

The Cowboys mounted an 8 1/2-minute drive for their first offensive score. “Celebration penalties… we can’t allow that to happen”. If the offense continues to perform as it did Sunday, Dallas could qualify for its second postseason since 2010.
