Gary Kubiak says Peyton Manning had ‘good workout’
Broncos coach Gary Kubiak had told reporters Thursday that Manning would have a “big” workout Saturday, ahead of Monday night’s game with the Bengals.
QB Peyton Manning will miss a sixth consecutive game after suffering a setback in his recovery from a torn plantar fascia.
Reports on NFL.com suggest that a workout scheduled for today will determine whether Manning will be considered if, and most likely when, the Broncos make the play-offs.
Denver (10-4) hosts the Cincinnati Bengals (11-3). “But so long as Osweiler remains healthy and continues to play reasonably well, it’s time to consider that Manning may have played his last down with the Broncos”. If Osweiler turns in another ho-hum performance, though, Manning could be back under center come Week 16.
Osweiler will remain the starter for the Denver Broncos.
But sources close to the team say that even if he does recover, Peyton Manning is unlikely to see the field again.
“To be clear, I am recanting any such statements and there is no truth to any statement of mine that Al Jazeera plans to air”, Sly said. It’s just, ‘Let’s go, let’s have a good week, let’s work, ‘ and that’s what he did.
The 39-year-old Manning scaled back his regimen after experiencing pain on December 18 following two straight days of practice.
The Bengals have had some of the best offensive production in the league this season and are scoring an average of 27 points per game. “I won’t go beyond that”. Brock Osweiler is now the Broncos starting quarterback and on a weekly basis, he has earned the starting job. “That’s part of football”, Kubiak said. “He’s been around. Certainly you wouldn’t want to give him a whole lot”.
A first-ever Pro Bowl nod wasn’t all that escaped Broncos defensive end Malik Jackson this week. “I’m going to have him working inside because I think that’s what’s best”.
Or, for that matter, what the Denver Broncos general manager expected of wide receiver Demaryius Thomas after agreeing on a $70 million contract in July.
