Gary Kubiak won’t hint on Denver Broncos QB job
Sanchez’s play in this preseason game must be the kind of performance that the Broncos’ general manager envisioned when he acquired the veteran passer from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Following the 22-0 beat down of the Bears, coach Gary Kubiak remained mum on whether he’s leaning one way or another in his choice for Week 1.
Callahan was burned for a 32-yard touchdown pass from Mark Sanchez to a wide-open Demaryius Thomas on the Broncos’ first drive.
John Elway and company looked on last night as Latimer showed off his entire skill-set in the team’s first preseason game against the Chicago Bears. After a McManus field goal from 42 yards, the Bennie Fowler III blocked the Bears’ punt and Zaire Anderson recovered the ball in the end-zone for a touchdown.
But Sanchez stayed calm under pressure, even going Jake Plummer with a left-handed throwaway pass on the first play of the game.
Sanchez completed 10 of 13 passes for 99 yards, with a touchdown and an interception, in Thursday’s preseason opener against the Bears. He was intercepted on the Broncos’ second possession when Jerrell Freeman picked off a tipped pass.

“Trevor is in command of what we do”, Kubiak said, accoridng to Jhabvala. The Broncos know what they have on defense, so don’t expect those starters to get too much playing time. I think I did a good job today but still a lot of room for improvement. “You can go out there and make plays”. It starts with me.

At first glance, the Bears may not display many flaws or weak points. He manned up, I thought, Thursday night against the Bears. Can’t say I walked away excited. We’ll see if that’s the case when the Bears reunite with former teammates Cornelius Bennett and Shea McClellin next Thursday night.

First round draft pick, Paxton Lynch entered in the third quarter. QB Brian Hoyer found WR Deonte Thompson for a long gain out of play-action in that scenario … Running back Ka’Deem Carey was examined for a possible concussion. Houston-Carson left the game with a neck injury, while defensive lineman Cornelius Edison was carted off the field with a leg injury. Three of the Broncos’ six, third down conversions came on that drive.
Thomas also deserves a nice hat tip for getting so wide open.
