Gary Neville: City should be walking away with the title
Manchester City should be “walking” the Premier League title race with all the talent at their disposal.
Liverpool thumped Manchester City 4-1 at the Etihad in a brilliant counter-attacking display to knock them off the top of the table.
But City are two points behind leaders Leicester at the top of the league and have had a mixed season so far with a few glorious wins and abject defeats. Their neighbours City have already lost games 4-1 home and away this season, so United fans should be careful what they wish for.
“I thought at 1-1 that Watford probably deserved to get that goal back but that was a killer punch, the best way to win a football match is always that last minute goal, because it leaves them no time to react. This is not a great United side but they are more than capable”. “You do have to wonder how many other players with similar potential could have been missed by Premier League clubs who might be focusing on other markets around the world”. But a magnificent turnaround somehow got them out of the relegation zone at the end of last season, and they are now playing like true champions (especially that Jamie Vardy guy).
On Saturday the Foxes thumped Newcastle United 3-0 to rise to the summit with Jamie Vardy hitting the headlines as he netted to score in a tenth consecutive top-flight game to equal the Premier League record.
Neville is excited for next weekend’s clash, but admits he did not expect the match up to be first versus second in late November.
“They know what they’re going to walk into [against Leicester] because I don’t think Louis van Gaal will have had a more sobering game than he had a year ago [losing 5-3], where his team played really well at the start of the game”.
Once again, the Arsenal game wasn’t the only game that occurred this weekend as nine other Premier League games were played.
“I don’t want to analyse the boy because if I do you will take my words and put them in a different perspective, and say I want to or do not want to sign him”, said Mourinho.
