Gas prices dip somewhat in ME, more nationally
Iowa gas prices are now averaging about $2.30 a gallon, according to GasBuddy’s latest report.
Gas continues its slow climb to summer prices, but Brexit may prove a boon.
The price of a gallon of regular gas in Chattanooga fell today to as low as $1.82 per gallon at the Raceway on Highway 153 near Highway 27 in Hixson. Since two-thirds the price of gasoline is influenced by oil prices, this reduces the likelihood of gas prices rising in the near future, AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said.
Sunday’s price was $2.37 price for a gallon in Miami-Dade, a drop of 1.9 cents from the previous week, according to a survey of almost 1,700 stations by GasBuddy.
Fuel prices remain relatively low, while data from the U.S. EIA shows that gasoline demand has reached all-time high. Last year, gasoline rose 73 cents a gallon from February to peak at $2.98 a gallon.
Monday’s national average was slightly lower than Ohio’s at $2.31.
Gas prices are averaging the lowest price ahead of the Fourth of July weekend since the same time in 2005. Compared to 2015, Albany drivers were saving an average of 38.8 cents per gallon. That’s down from $2.58 per gallon a week ago and $2.80 per gallon a year ago.
One factor that can have an immediate short-term effect in the other direction would be a tropical storm that affected the refinery area of the Gulf of Mexico.
