Gas prices drop 2.3 cents per gallon in Maine
Gas prices fell again in the First State over the past week.
Gas prices in New Hampshire have fallen almost 2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.11 a gallon.
Locally, according to GasBuddy.com on Saturday evening, gas can be found for cheaper than $1,91, as $1.78 gas was available at the Sam’s Club at 600 W. Central Texas Expressway and Memory Lane in Harker Heights. Drivers are saving 5 cents per gallon week-over-week and 8 cents per gallon month-over-month.
AAA officials say the drop in prices over the part couple of weeks is largely due to steadily declining crude oil prices. That hasn’t happened since 2009.
Nationwide, 21 percent of gas stations are selling gasoline below $2 a gallon. That’s also much lower than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.08.
While a few parts of the country are below $2 a gallon, it hasn’t happened here.
AAA Michigan says gas prices statewide have increased by about 1 cent within the past week.
The Florida average was $2.119 on Monday, down slightly from the previous day and about 6 cents from a week ago.
USA average of $2.20 is the lowest on October 25 since 2006 (2.199) – the next lowest was on October 25, 2004 which was $2.017.
