Gas prices fall 6 cents
Denver-area pump prices fell 4 cents on average to $2.31 per gallon, mirroring the national average.
AAA Mid-Atlantic said Friday in a report that the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Maryland was $2.24, up from $2.23 a week ago.
But that’s much lower than the price from a year ago, when motorists were paying $3.08.
The result is from Gasbuddy.com, which surveyed 1,228 gas stations in the state.
Nationally, prices increased an average of 2.7 cents per gallon. “The jump was led by states in the Midwest”.
The roller coaster ride at the pump continues today but as of right now we’re on the downward swing. Crude oil was trading down slightly this morning at $49.37 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
“The most pressing issues on gasoline prices now remain the recent surge in oil prices that have brought a barrel of West Texas Intermediate oil to almost $50/bbl from $38/bbl in August”. That’s nearly a dime more than last week but about 75 cents cheaper than it was a year ago.
Gas prices across Paducah are holding steady, and in a few cases have dropped a penny or two a gallon over the past week.
