Gas Prices Fall Again: Here’s How Much You’re Saving
Here’s an early present for the record 100.5 million Americans traveling over the Christmas holiday: the national average price of gas has dropped below $2 a gallon for the first time since March 25, 2009.
Nationally, more two-thirds of USA stations are selling gas under $2 a gallon, and drivers can find at least one station selling gas for less than that price in 47 states.
In the Lower 48 states, the highest average price of regular gasoline is in Los Angeles, at $2.71, while Tulsa, Oklahoma has the lowest, at $1.72, according to Lundberg.
Prices rose slightly in Arizona, but they’re still averaging under $2 gallon.
Gasoline prices in MA are following a national trend and falling to their lowest levels in years.
The average price in the Harrisburg area, according to GasBuddy, is $2.16 a gallon – 3 cents lower than a week ago, 10 cents lower than a month ago and 40 cents lower than a year ago. “Consequently, California’s average price has climbed by 8 cents per gallon while the rest of the country for the most part sees declines”, Laskoski said. The website says the national average could bottom out at $1.85 before rising in the spring as demand rises and refineries shift to federally required summer gasoline blends.
The low price in Lafayette on Monday was $1.61 a gallon at Sam’s Club, 3222 Ambassador Caffery Blvd.
