Gas prices fall slightly in San Jose
While the Iran nuclear agreement may not be very popular on Capitol Hill, AAA’s Susan Hiltz says its one of the main drivers behind the global drop in crude prices.
The average retail gas price in Maine was $2.71 per gallon on Sunday. That was 85 cents cheaper than a year ago, AAA said. The national average from last month was also down 5.2 cents per gallon and is 79.1 cents lower than a year ago.
“Motorists are finally getting some consistent relief at the pump thanks to declining oil prices”, said Mark Jenkins, a AAA spokesman.
Other factors include lower demand from China, a stronger U.S. dollar, and an abundant supply.
Oil production has been increasing worldwide. That’s down about 5 cents from last week and 15 cents from last month.
In Gwinnett, prices on Monday morning dipped into the $2.30s, including $2.37 at three stations in the Snellville area, according to gasbuddy.com. “I would expect the average to drop to $2.49 early in the week”. (Prices in South Florida typically run higher than the state average because of higher taxes.).
