AAA officials say the drop in prices over the part couple of weeks is largely due to steadily declining crude oil prices. This comes in slightly higher than the national average of $2.19 per gallon, but it’s still nowhere near last year’s prices. That hasn’t happened since 2009. “The good news for drivers is that the treats should extend into November”, said Jeff Pelton, a GasBuddy’s senior petroleum analyst.
The average statewide was $2.12, 6 cents lower than last week. For every $1 change in the price of oil, gas prices shift about 2.4 cents.

A year ago, the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice market was averaging $3.04 per gallon.
U.S. average of $2.20 is the lowest on October 25 since 2006 (2.199) – the next lowest was on October 25, 2004 which was $2.017.
