Gasol’s 3-pointer Seals Win as Grizzlies Beat Clippers 111-107
Mike Conley and Marc Gasol showed that old bears can learn new offensive tricks, and the Memphis Grizzlies handed the Clippers their second loss of the season, 111-107.
It was a great play design, Mike Conley had the hot hand all night for Memphis, they ran him off a high screen to get the switch of J.J.
J.J. Redick believes the Los Angeles Clippers got caught up in their own hype. Like Redick, Conley also drained seven shots from beyond the arc in the game. Paul is 1 overall in steals (2.91 spg), 4th in assists (8.5 apg) and 8 in three-point percentage (47.5%).
Marc Gasol, three-point shooter is something that’s still taking some time to get used to, but the big Spaniard continues to make sure it’s not just a passing fad.
Gasol made four 3-pointers, the same number he hit in helping Memphis rally for a win over Washington last month.
Better eyesight seems to be making a difference for the Clipper guard – as one would expect it might for anybody – but how far can it carry them this season?
Having already attempted 40 this season – with a 40% conversion rate no less – Gasol is clearly enjoying his reinvention as a perimeter threat.
The trip to Dallas is also a return for Chandler Parsons, who spent the last two years with the Mavericks before signing with Memphis in the offseason.
The Clippers defeated the Grizzlies 99-88 in the teams’ initial meeting this season on November 4 at Memphis.
The Memphis Grizzlies have the luxury of having two veterans on the bench that have been franchise players before. That helped tremendously in beating the Los Angeles Clippers. The Memphis Grizzlies clearly think it is. He took more shots than any of his teammates, and it paid dividends. ZBO scored 18 points on 7-13 shooting and grabbed seven boards in only 26 minutes of action. Neither is expected to be available against Los Angeles.
Blake Griffin delivered a solid, if not spectacular, 25-point, eight rebound night. The Grizzlies’ point guard shot a red-hot 7-of-9 from downtown and dished out eight assists to go along with five rebounds. To put this in perspective, no other team averages in double figures when it comes to winning differential. He continued that streak against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Before the ball tipped on Wednesday the Clippers had allowed opponents to shoot just 33.9% from three-point range on the season. Of course, that was not enough to knock off the Grizzlies. The Clippers lineup has more depth and superiority as against the Grizzlies.
Redick lost control on the ensuing possession, and Conley calmly drained two free throws to clinch the win.
