Gearbox change drops Bottas five places
Moving up to P10 after penalties were applied to the two Ferrari drivers for engine changes, Bottas himself then took a five place grid penalty.
“There were a few discussions”.
“It’s fine – I don’t complain he [Verstappen] is doing anything wrong, as long as it’s fine the next time someone else does it in the same way”.
When asked for his view, Bottas said his opinion remained “the same”, having declared after the race that the clash was not a racing incident.
He said: “I had a rear suspension failure at the end of Q2”.
“From my point of view, the first one was quite different”, said Bottas.
“I don’t complain about what he did this time, but they should be more clear for everybody so we can know what we can do”.
The Finn was heard saying: “That guy keeps pushing me off the circuit every time, if that’s legal I will do the same next time”, but Raikkonen insisted he was only making sure on the rules in question.
“I came out of the pits but I didn’t see a little patch of water on that corner, it was a bit slippery, the vehicle got loose on the rear and there wasn’t a big enough run off area”.
“Once he decided [to close the door], I tried to brake and turn in as much as I can but there was no way to avoid it”, added Raikkonen.
“I tried to slow down and turn in but it was nothing special. The race is very soon now, so that’s the only opportunity to make the best we can from here”.
