Gears of War: Ultimate Edition launch trailer marks return of Mad World

Ready to go back to Sera, soldier? “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” is like the anniversary edition of ‘Halo, ‘ with specs remastered and rebuilt from the ground-up.

The original trailer became a classic, playing on TV and over the internet for weeks leading up to the game’s launch.

“The original “Mad World” trailer kicked off the franchise with what is one of the most iconic and recognized trailers in the gaming”, Microsoft said in a blog post. It’s a tactic that’s been emulated by countless other games since, including the likes of Dead Island and Assassin’s Creed.

In 2006 the platform holder turned heads by using the slow and haunting Gary Jules cover of Mad World for its Gears of War short.

Gears of War is about to make its debut on current-gen consoles on August. 25 with Gears of War Ultimate Edition, which remasters the first game in the series.
