Geeta set to return home from Pak on Monday

Even the name “Geeta” was given to her by Edhi staff.

Janardhan Mahto, the man thought to be Geeta’s father, says the 21-year-old has been living in Pakistan since she accidently crossed the border after becoming lost at a fair in 2004. The family reportedly lives in Bihar. The scriptwriters were unaware of Geeta’s story, but the movie led to a surge in interest in her case.

Answering a query on sale of advanced fighter jets to Pakistan, he said India’s reservation to supply of such was well known.

“Everything we have done so far has been with the full knowledge and concurrence of Geeta and Edhi Foundation”, he told media in New Delhi.

He said they had got assurances that they would remain in New Delhi until Indian authorities completed DNA tests to confirm the parentage of Geeta.

Geeta is taking three suitcases with her loaded down with gifts: glass bangles for her step-mother, dried fruits for her brothers, and dozens of pairs of clothes.

Nevertheless, there were many points in the discussions between the Pakistani PM and US President, that are a cause of concern for India.
