Gemma Collins considered ‘too vulnerable’ for jungle return
But while she may not get to rough it in the Aussie outback, producers might still jet her Down Under for another role – possibly as a guest on ITV2 spin-off I’m A Celebrity… NOW!.
While the star – who lasted just 72 hours in the jungle past year – has got herself in incredible shape, doctors are said to be unsure whether she can handle the stress of the ITV show.
It was thought that Gemma Collins was going to have another go in the jungle after walking out early on in the show last year, but apparently she has been snubbed for this year’s crop due to health concerns.
During her time on the show Gemma raised eyebrows when she declared: “I need a few decent food, I can’t eat porridge ever again, I’m going to die”.
But after completing the mandatory psych test for contestants, she was deemed too vulnerable.
So just a couple of days in, and several weepy sessions in the Bush Telegraph later, Gemma – who at one point joked she may have malaria – uttered the immortal words, “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here”, and was subsequently flown back to the UK.
A source told The Sun: “Gemma is gutted because she was desperate to give it another go”.
“Despite losing weight and brimming with confidence, they felt she still wasn’t strong enough to cope with the demands”.
It hints at future trailers for the upcoming new series which are believed to see the ITV crew accidentally leave the pair in the jungle at the end of production on 2014’s show.
Apparently they are “desperate for her to step under the waterfall”.
Gemma was so traumatised she threatened to quit showbiz for good, only to arrive back on Towie weeks later.
