General Assembly sessions are a great opportunity for leaders of India
The Indo – Pak Bilateral ties took a turn for worse on Thursday when it was revealed that Pakistan wrote to United Nations complaining about India’s alleged plan to build a wall along LoC.
The face of Times Now channel, Arnab Goswami is known for his over enthusiasm but he is the man we need to take on our cocky neighbours who have been in denial for decades.
India has dismissed a Pakistani complaint to the UN Security Council about a wall it said New Delhi was building as an issue inspired by a terrorist. The letter addressed to the President of the Security Council and Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin has details of a 10 metre high wall along the almost 200 kilometre border.
The second letter is reportedly based on the “submission” of chief of the terror outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, Sayeed Salahuddin. India is awaiting the action-taken-report by Pakistan on bilateral talks. The annual United Nations meeting will be an opportunity for Sharif’s more direct involvement in offering to calm tension with India, as well as in Afghanistan, where Pakistan continues to support a negotiated settlement. It means that the UNSC has not paid any heed to such letters.
The prime minister also appreciated Bill and Milanda gates foundation projects for help in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif on Sunday held some important meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the 70th UN General Assembly Session in New York, ARY News reported.
“The Government of Pakistan believes that the embankment will create a fait accompli aimed at permanently creating a physical and psychological barrier for the people of Jammu & Kashmir, who are yet to exercise their right to self- determination, as enshrined in Security Council Resolutions”.
On a question that Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be raising the issue in his address to the UN, Swarup said, “The first thing is has any action been taken by the United Nations?”
