Gennady Golovkin to fight Kell Brook on September 10

In a huge announcement that went out live on Sky Sports news just minutes ago, it was announced how superstar Gennady Golovkin will face Kell Brook on September 10th at The O2 in London. Top middleweight fighter Gennady Golovkin was pretty much set to fight in the United Kingdom in September, meeting Chris Eubank Jr.

The world wants to see Golovkin and Alvarez finally square off after they’ve danced around each other for the past two years.

“We set them [the Eubanks] a deadline and it wasn’t adhered to. We were ready to sign the fight for Eubank, but they made it so hard”. – Boxing Superstar and Unified World Middleweight Champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, 34-0 (31KO’s) and Undefeated Mandatory Challenger Dominic Wade, 18-0 (12KO’s) weigh in Friday in Los Angeles, California.

But Eubank apparently got cold feet when it came to fighting Golovkin, and the Brook-Vargas deal became hard to finalize because of how much of the pie the Vargas side was demanding.

Kell Brook, a native of England, is ecstatic that Golovkin has agreed to defend his middleweight crown on Brook’s home turf.

Loeffler agreed this could be a risky fight for Golovkin, considering he has little to gain by beating a man moving up two weight classes, and much to lose if he is defeated by the smaller fighter.

“When you have 22 knockouts in a row it’s a big problem to get fighters in the ring”, Loeffler said.

A lot of boxing fans had doubts that Eubank Jr. would sign for the Golovkin fight.

“He gets a lot of credit for moving up”.

It is not yet determined if the fight will be a title match but Golovkin said that he is more than willing to put his belts on the line against any opponents.

Current IBF welterweight champion Brook will jump two divisions to take on the current WBA Super, WBC and IBF world middleweight champion in a decision that has stunned the world of boxing. Unlike the Alvarez-Khan contest, there will be no 155 lb. catchweight concession.

“We have a good relationship with Golden Boy, so whenever is the soonest possible we can make that fight, we’ll do everything from our side”. When that can happen is anyone’s guess. “It’s not going to look like he’s a much bigger fighter”. Here are some highlights of Golovkin’s previous fights.
