George H.W. Bush said to be voting for Clinton
Former president George H.W. Bush plans to vote for Hillary Clinton in November, the niece of president John F. Kennedy wrote in a Facebook posting.
Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, a daughter of Robert Kennedy, said the former president told her about his vote during a Points of Light Foundation event, but his spokesman would not confirm that.
Politico spoke with Townsend, who said she met with the former president in ME and he made his presidential preference known.
Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, casually inserted the age of George H.W. Bush into her response Tuesday to a report suggesting the 41st president would be voting for Hillary Clinton. She and former President George H.W. “In November, I will not vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton”, he added, “but I will support principled conservatives at the state and federal levels, just as I have done my entire life”.
George Bush wants the status quo that his family and the Clintons are a part of.
Emmert said even if it’s true that Bush would vote for Clinton, he doesn’t expect it will hurt Trump. One of two living Republican presidents will reportedly vote for the Democratic nominee this fall. Sources with knowledge of the conversation told CNN’s Jamie Gangel they were surprised and disappointed that she had publicly shared a private conversation with the former president. He and other members of his famous family have largely refused to get behind Trump, who savaged former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in the primaries.
In May, both former presidents Bush made clear that they would not endorse Donald Trump. Bush is not commenting on the presidential election, and is focused on keeping the U.S. Senate in Republican hands. As many as 40 people were in attendance at the event.
