George Miller Confirms DC Talks; No Man Of Steel 2
Rumors said Miller was moving, or being moved to, directing Man of Steel 2, a stand-alone Superman movie.
Contrary to prior reports, Mad Max helmer George Miller is not signed on to direct Man of Steel 2. Zack Snyder even said the door was open for Miller. “Fury Road” director George Miller revealed that rumors about his involvement with “Man of Steel 2″ are “probably not true” during an interview with Digital Spy. He was spotted on the set of “Suicide Squad” this past summer, and he was supposed to helm a Justice League movie in 2009, but that project fell through. [It was] not a fault of anybody involved except the new Australian government wasn’t agile enough with their rebates and were indecisive, and there was a writers strike. I work in mythology and superheroes are basically new incarnations of Greek and Roman mythology, so there’s always something of interest there.
Miller did note he is a DC fan as well.
But of note to me is the mention of the other Mad Max script. Miller is “happy to say” there are discussions about a fifth film. He did add that it would be “interesting” to see what another standalone Superman movie would entail. “I love [Zack Snyder’s] work”.
But considering he’s besting directors decades his junior at big screen mayhem, here’s hoping isn’t long until he’s making things blow up real good again.
According to Miller, he wants his next movie to be “very small” and “without any special effects, and not many stunts”.
