George RR Martin Shares Huge Game of Thrones Twists
“I am not writing anything until I deliver WINDS OF WINTER”. The new season of Game of Thrones will be diverging from the novels in other ways, extending the plot beyond the five novels already published in the series.
But recently, Martin has revealed that he too, will be incorporating a plot twist in his upcoming novel which won’t be featured on the TV series.
“I have chose to do it”, Martin said. “I don’t know. It is fairly obvious because it is something that involves a couple of characters, one of which is dead on the show, and not dead in the books”, he said.
With its sixth season almost here, Game of Thrones is ready to leapfrog where George R.R. Martin’s books left off, since Martin’s The Winds of Winter is yet to arrive But when we feel the Winds at last, there will be at least one huge surprise to Thrones viewers. During the interview, he confirmed that he has chose to include the twist and also gave an additional hint on the characters involved in the plot twist. For example, just look at the Lady Stoneheart character; she was someone book fans were dying to see on the show, but producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss chose to go in a difference direction, and since there was not a character who could fully emulate this story, they just have not included it. “I don’t know”, he told his interviewers.
Even with the confirmation of this twist, it doesn’t narrow the possible characters, according to Hollywood Life. In reality, the next book, titled The Winds of Winter, is still being written.
Of course, Martin did not specify which character he was referring to, but candidates include Barristan Selmy, Jojen Reed, and Stannis Baratheon – all of whom are now deceased on Game of Thrones, but still alive as of the ending of Martin’s most recent novel, A Dance with Dragons. Currently, the book is still unfinished so a release date has not been announced. He now making a public appearance as the Guest of Honor at MystiCon taking place in Roanoke, VA until February 28.
