Georgia-Alabama will be like something out of ‘High School Musical’
Alabama will be waltzing into this one with a bit of a chip on their collective shoulders as the Crimson Tide are still gunning for a playoff berth at the end of the season.
“I didn’t hit them well”, Morgan said. “They don’t make a lot of mistakes, and they don’t beat themselves much”. Their staff is loaded with former Bama assistants, and even Nick Saban himself stated earlier this week that UGA’s football team looks a lot like a few Bama teams of the past.
Alabama is still a national championship contender if they can find a way to win in Athens on Saturday.
Georgia will run the ball. For a lot of teams, being 3-1 would be a landmark. He has 223 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns on 7.0 yards per carry this year, and 148 receiving yards and 3 more touchdowns in the passing game. And why not? Derrick Henry and Nick Chubb are involved.
Said Jenkins: “We’ve got guys now who have bought in and are not selfish people”. “He is a complete back in every sense of the word”.
If Alabama wins on Saturday, they still face tough road games at Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Auburn. But you know those other guys are pretty locked in too.
Because of the Southeastern Conference scheduling formula, the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide are meeting for the first time in the regular season since 2008. The Tide have won the last two match-ups.
Speaking of running backs, it would be remiss to start any preview of the Georgia offense without first mentioning Nick Chubb.
“We got to come together and worry about the inside, we can’t worry about the outside”.
“There is a little more familiarity of exactly what we want”, Pruitt said, “but we had a good group of seniors a year ago who bought in and tried to kind of help us along”.
It’s been discussed cornerback Cyrus Jones may see more time at wide receiver now that Robert Foster is out, but coaches have had a hard time trying to make that happen. “We prefer being physical throughout the whole game”. Jake Coker performed well against an Ole Miss defense that’s comparable to (and quite likely better than) to Georgia’s, but did so at home; Greyson Lambert shredded ULM’s and South Carolina’s defenses between the hedges, but those defenses are obviously not Alabama’s, especially when it comes to slowing down Chubb as well.
A 5-yard pass from Chad Kelly to Quincy Adeboyejo advanced the ball to Alabama’s 1-yard line. Granted, the Tide have been played two ranked teams, so it will be interesting to compare these numbers again after Saturday night.
All of those attractive achievements could easily be blotted out by the No. 13 Crimson Tide this weekend.
“You have to play fast against them”, Saban said. – The University of Alabama wrapped up its week of full practices on Thursday afternoon, putting together a 90-minute session focused on fine-tuning the gameplan for this Saturday’s matchup in Athens with the No. 8/6 Georgia Bulldogs.
