Georgia Tech goes on big run to beat Cornell 116-81
Georgia Tech won last year’s meeting 30-24 in overtime, which came after Georgia won the previous five. Georgia Tech also had 30 assists during the game.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are coming off of a win against Cornell by a score of 116-81 on Friday night. The Jackets got a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double from Charles Mitchell, who led seven double-figure Jackets. It will finish the regular season against two triple-option in-state teams, first playing Georgia Southern this Saturday at Sanford Stadium. Newcomers Adam Smith (13 points), Nick Jacobs (12 points) and James White (14 points) all were in double figures.
The game time for Georgia’s visit to Georgia Tech next week, which is setting up to be important for more reasons than usual, will not be determined until Sunday.
Tennessee leads the all-time series 42-27.
Georgia and Georgia Tech won’t have a kickoff time for another six days. I am picking Georgia Tech in this one. He spent four years at Clemson before that and went to the NCAAs three straight years. But Barnes has refused to label this a rebuilding season. Senior guard Kevin Punter scored a career-high 31 points, junior guard Robert Hubbs III added 18 and senior forward Armani Moore had 12 points and eight rebounds.
Georgia Tech is 3-7 SU in its last 10 games at home.
Tennessee opened the season with an 82-78 win over UNC-Asheville.
