Gerrard: The One Question I’d Ask Ferguson
“Everything, In terms of players, the personnel and the way they play are completely different”. Frank’s the best goalscoring midfielder, Scholes the best footballer, Vieira the most hard opponent…
The LA Galaxy midfielder’s revelation comes after the former Manchester United manager had stated in his autobiography that he thought Gerrard was not a “top, top player”, despite having tried to sign him in the 2002-03 season.
“Everything” was the response Rio Ferdinand gave when asked what the major differences are between the philosophies of Louis van Gaal and Sir Alex Ferguson.
In a wide-ranging interview, Gerrard touched on a host of topics and admits he misses the Premier League and his status as Liverpool captain.
He told BT Sport: “I had a letter off them, wanting to sign me on a seven-year deal when I was 13 years of age”.
“Then he tried to sign me again in early 2002/2003”. I am jealous. “I struggled to get my head around it. Maybe that was selfish of me but I had gone a long time playing every single game”.
“Yes, I felt like s*** some days because we lost”.
If you could ask one question to a sportsman/sportswoman? It was good to know he still rated me.
“Liverpool replaced coaches Colin Pascoe and Mike Marsh in the summer, so they were looking for a new No 2, or No 3 or No 4”.
“A few English clubs called but I wouldn’t play against Liverpool”.
