Get fresh passport in a week by giving four documents
The applicant will have to produce Aadhar card, voter ID card and PAN card, and the Aadhar data should be validated online for the applicant to enjoy the benefit.
Last year, the passport office fully implemented the District Police Headquarter (DPHQ) online Model for Passport Police Verification.
Until now, the process would take a month, with the police verification eating up a lot of time. The passports for these applicants would be issued in two days on post Police Verification basis.
Swaraj also added that the applicant would be able to choose any appointment date from the earliest five available dates for passport related services.
So, passports will now be issued in no time. “This has been reduced to 34 days”.
In a major decision aimed towards liberalising the passport issuance process, the government has chose to do away with police verification for first-time normal category applicants. Besides, passports may also be impounded and revoked later, in case of adverse police reports.
According to the new guideline, the police verification, which used to delay the process, will be conducted after the passport is issued. The Ministry of External Affairs has simplified the procedure of Police Verification for applications submitted for the first time under “normal” category. EPIC and PAN card, the phrase “pose-police verification” creates ambiguity.
“With the launch of this App, the need to download and print the physical Personal Particulars Form and questionnaire would no longer be required resulting in paperless end-to-end digital flow of the PV process, further reducing the time required for completion of PVR, within the desired time limit of 21 days”, the release said. Police station users who already have access to the PSP Police Application (web) can use this new app for faster verification of passport applicants.
