Get ready for Evolve free weekend

Evolve has struggled to maintain player numbers, so this free weekend is likely an attempt to rectify that.

Turtle Rock Studios’ asymmetrical four-on-one shooter is getting a free weekend, unless you’re playing on PlayStation 4.

It’s rather generous: the entire of Evolve will be free to play, including the powerful Goliath monster and the DLC hunters. Evolve includes three Monsters, 12 Hunters, 16 maps, and four game modes: Hunt, Nest, Rescue, and Defend. Hunters fighting an ever growing monster threat is a great idea, and can make for some great matches. Moreover, there’s also no word on whether the broken up initially-released content will be packaged in or discounted, meaning more than likely this is a move to entice you to play a game that is actually very good, in its entirety, in a hope the product speaks for itself.

This weekend, all Evolve players can experience the now available DLC characters for free on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. Following the free weekend, players can purchase the full game to retain their progress.

Based on the Goliath, the Meteor Goliath features a new look, audio and attacks capable of increased range, including an enhanced Rock Throw, Leap Smash, Fire Breath and Charge.

Starting at 08:01 AM PT on 5th September, 2015, all Evolve players will gain access to the available playable characters from Evolve Hunting Season 2 for 24 hours.
