Get secure: Blackphone 2 sales inquires begin with September launch
Silent Circle has not divulged further details about the Blackphone 2, only that the phone will be released in Sept. this year.
In terms of specs, the Blackphone 2 gets a boost in both display size and memory.
The device will have a sleek glass design all throughout while boasting a 5.5-inch 1080p display. It also features a 13-megapixel camera, micro SD card support and a 1.7 GHz octo-core processor. The Blackphone Plus tablet has already been announced, but Silent Circle has kept quiet as to when the tablet will be set for release.
Unfortunately no pricing has been made available on the website, for the new privacy enhanced smartphone and anyone interested is required to contact the Blackphone 2 sales team in order to place a pre-order. Silent Circle is a company that aims to protect your privacy, and that’s why they created the Blackphone, an Android-based smartphone focused on privacy.
Silent Circle lets IT departments manage the Blackphone 2 with Enterprise Spaces, as well, which are locked-down Spaces that enforce business policies. Not only are settings easily configurable for the phone, users can also fine-tune permissions for individual apps to decide the level of data access each app receives. But considering that its predecessor was sold at a price of $629, the Blackphone 2 is unlikely to be offered at a higher premium, as the second generation handset has not been upgraded very significantly.
Users can also create multiple “virtual phones” on the Blackphone 2.
All eyes will likely be focused on the launch of the latest version of the iPhone next month – leaked memos indicate the iPhone 6S will probably debut sometime in September – but another high-end smartphone will be making a much stealthier entrance to the market. Peer-to-peer encryption and secure text messaging allow employees to keep their conversations secure.
