Getting 2GB more Google Drive storage today is easy – here’s how
Google wants you to lock down your security settings, and is willing to bribe you to get that done. If Google lists a device that you do not recognize, just tap the “Something is wrong” button and you’ll be asked to come up with a new password in order to block unauthorized access.
It’s a simple walkthrough where you can ensure your recovery information, connected devices, account permissions, app password access, and two-step verification settings are all up to date.
The Safer Internet Day security checkup can also be used to make sure your passwords are up to snuff, and can rate the strength of them as well. If you’re done using an app or decide that it’s a bit too invasive, you only need to click “remove” and you’ll have taken back the previously-given permissions. Like previous year, there is probably a limited time to do the security check and get the extra storage, so act fast and share with your friends. Once you reach the checkup page that says you’re “all set”, look for a note at the bottom mentioning the promo and you should be good to go.
After a quick check-up, two GB of Drive storage will be yours. This is stackable so if you perform another security check now you’ll get an additional 2GB of free Drive storage for a total of 19GB that you get to keep forever. Once you complete these three steps, your free Google Drive quota will be raised to 17GB.
Admit it: you can always use more cloud storage.
Last year, Google started doing a “security check up” with users.
