Giants cut Parker, Cruz back soon?

In all phases of the ball the Giants could use improvement so they must feel as if the newly signed Kendrick Ellis who will be taking Parker’s roster spot could help more than he can. Parker was slated to fill in for Victor Cruz while he deals with a hamstring injury however Parker underwhelmed dramatically.

Parker had become a target of scorn from the fans due to his five dropped passes in the first two games, including three on key third-downs against the Cowboys in the opener. He leads the league in drops among wide receivers with five in two games.

Coughlin was asked if he would be comfortable with putting Flowers, the Giants’ first-round draft pick, right back out there if he is okay on Thursday.

“I’ll leave that up to you”, head coach Tom Coughlin said.

The team announced Tuesday that they have released the veteran wideout. He admitted his mistake after letting a fourth-down throw slip through his hands in a loss to the Atlanta Falcons, per Ebenezer Samuel of the New York Daily News. This year he has played in two games for the Giants, and already scored a touch down.

New York looks to earn their first win of the season in a Week 3 matchup against the Washington Redskins on Thursday night. He had played his previous four seasons with the New York Jets. Now it’s time to see if Harris, or whoever else gets a shot, can make everyone forget about Parker for good.

“Preston Parker, for the majority of time that he was here, was a very tough, physical football player who made plays when called upon”, Coughlin said. “We just need a little more productivity out of him this week, and we trust that he’ll bring it”.
