Giants safety says his cousin was killed in San Bernardino mass shootings
New York Giants safety Nat Berhe hails from San Bernadino, Calif., miles away from Wednesday’s horrific mass shooting at a nonprofit organization for people with disabilities.
In an image he tweeted out, Berhe said he was “speechless” as he noted the proximity of his parent’s office, on the 1800 block of Business Center Drive, to the shooting.
A native of the Southern California town, Berhe expressed his horror of the shootings as news broke of the massacre.
Along with the 14 fatalities, 21 others were injured when two suspects walked into the Inland Regional Center with a two assault rifles, two handguns and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunitions and started opening fire. Former receiver Corey Washington found out his good friend’s cousin and great-aunt died in the shooting at a Charleston, S.C., church.
Berhe, 24, was placed on injured reserve in September after undergoing surgery to fix a blood clot in his calf.
During the attacks Wednesday, Berhe tweeted, “We have to stop this senseless violence”.
