Giants sign veteran safety Miles, waive Harris, Currie
ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports the Giants are expected to sign former Ravens S Jeromy Miles.
Miles had an interception and a forced fumble for the Ravens last season and racked up 28 tackles while also seeing time on special teams. Miles spent the last two seasons with the Ravens, seeing action in 28 games and making one start.
The team waived two players, wide receiver Marcus Harris and safety Justin Currie, on Wednesday to make room on the 90-man roster for Miles.
In 2013, Miles played one game for the Cincinnati Bengals before he was released on September 21.
Last year, Miles played in all 16 games with two starts (vs. San Diego on November 30 and at Miami a week later). His 23 defensive tackles were a career high. He also contributed five special teams tackles. Miles began his collegiate career at Navy before transferring to UMass. Harris, who first signed with the Giants in 2013, spent the 2014 season on injured reserve after undergoing surgery to fix a torn labrum in his hip.
Currie, an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan, signed with the team in May and made an impression during offseason practices, having been singled out by safeties coach Dave Merritt after minicamp.
