Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. loses appeal of one-game suspension
New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham lost an appeal Wednesday to overturn his one-game National Football League ban, meaning he will miss Sunday’s critical contest at Minnesota to sustain the Giants’ playoff hopes.
The appeals officer was James Thrash, who is jointly appointed by the NFL and NFL Players association.
Beckham drew three personal foul penalties in what the league called “multiple violations of safety-related playing rules”.
“Acts that jeopardize the safety of players or expose them to unnecessary risk can not be tolerated”, NFL vice president of football operations Merton Hanks said in his letter to Beckham on Monday.
Odell Beckham Jr. says he’s sorry for repeatedly cheap shotting Josh Norman during the Giants vs. Panthers game this weekend… admitting his behavior was “embarrassing”. “I’ll be the reason you don’t play”, Wing repeated, in addition to there was undoubtedly a threatening aspect to the assertion.
Asked if he or the Panthers directed homophobic slurs toward Beckham, Norman said: “I don’t know what you’re talking about”. I am not here to make excuses for my conduct. This is about my behaviour, and I am responsible for my behaviour.
“People are going to interpret it. But the truth of the matter is, give me some concrete evidence so I can sit down and get this taken care of”. Beckham also apologized to the kids who look up to him, and to the parents who have to explain to their kids why Beckham acted the way he did.
“Because I felt the game got out of hand, ” Rivera said. During preseason, Beckham said he was being targeted, and that defenders were hitting him more than making plays on the ball.
That’s one guy. That’s it. I’m not going to go back to it. It’s just one guy who made a statement and we’ve moved on from that.
The NFL fined cornerback Josh Norman for his role in the altercations with Beckham. He says he doesn’t know what the two talked about but said Beckham was “shaken up” and “surprised” after Ball’s “legitimate” threats.
Kubiak said Manning will workout in the morning but won’t participate in practice. In a game against the Buffalo Bills, video appeared to show Beckham throwing a punch at a Bills player after getting blocked. Finally, Odell apologized to his coach and teammates for letting them down.
